Data Deletion Policy
Last updated: 2026-06-14
How to request deletion of your Pulida Wo account and personal data, what we remove, and what we may retain.
1. Overview
The Uganda Law Society (ULS) operates Pulida Wo. This Data Deletion Policy explains how you can request deletion of your account and associated personal data, what we delete, what we may need to keep, and how long processing typically takes.
This policy supplements our Privacy Policy. By using Pulida Wo you agree to the practices described here and in our other legal notices.
2. Who can use this process
This process applies to users of Pulida Wo who have created an account, including:
- Clients who submitted legal requests through the mobile app, web app, or related services
- Advocates who maintain a Pulida Wo profile and receive case requests
- USSD users where we can verify your identity from the mobile number used with the service
If you contacted us only through this marketing website (without a Pulida Wo account), email us at support@pulidawo.com and we will handle your request under our Privacy Policy.
3. How to request account and data deletion
3.1 Request by email (all users)
To delete your Pulida Wo account and associated personal data, email support@pulidawo.com with:
- Subject line:
Data deletion request — Pulida Wo - The email address or phone number linked to your account
- Your full name as shown on your profile
- A clear statement that you want your account and personal data deleted
We may ask you to verify your identity (for example, by replying from your registered email or confirming account details) before we process the request.
3.2 Delete an unassigned case request in the app (clients)
If you are a client and have submitted a case request that has not yet been accepted by an advocate, you can delete that request directly in the Pulida Wo mobile app from your matters list or case detail screen. That removes the intake record and related uploaded documents for that request.
Deleting a single case request does not delete your Pulida Wo account. To remove your account entirely, follow the email process in section 3.1.
3.3 Active or accepted matters
If you have a matter that has been accepted by an advocate or is otherwise active, you may still request account deletion. We will delete or anonymise personal data where we legally can. Some matter-related records may be retained as described in section 5.
4. What we delete
When we approve and complete an account deletion request, we aim to remove or anonymise:
- Your Firebase Authentication account (sign-in credentials)
- Profile information stored in Pulida Wo (name, email, phone number, profile photo references)
- Device tokens used for push notifications
- Unassigned or closed case intake data linked only to your account, where retention is not required
- Uploaded documents in Firebase Storage that are not required to be kept for an active or closed matter
Deletion is performed on our production systems. Backups and logs may take additional time to cycle out, as described in section 6.
5. What we may retain
We may retain certain information where deletion is not permitted or not practicable, including:
- Active matters: Data needed to coordinate an ongoing case between you and an advocate until the matter is closed and any applicable retention period ends
- Closed matters: Case records, communications, and documents that ULS or advocates must keep under professional conduct rules, court obligations, or legitimate record-keeping policies
- Legal and security records: Audit logs, fraud-prevention data, and information we must keep to comply with law or respond to lawful requests
- Aggregated or anonymised data: Statistics that do not identify you
Where we retain data, we restrict access and keep it only for as long as necessary for the purpose described.
6. Processing time
- We aim to acknowledge deletion requests within 2 working days
- We aim to complete approved account deletions within 30 days, unless a longer period is required for legal, security, or technical reasons (for example, backup rotation or dispute resolution)
We will tell you if we need more time or if part of your request cannot be fulfilled, and explain why.
7. Third-party sign-in
If you signed in with Google or another identity provider, deleting your Pulida Wo account removes your data from our systems but does not delete your Google or third-party account. Manage those accounts through the provider directly.
8. Children’s accounts
Pulida Wo is not directed at children under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact support@pulidawo.com and we will take appropriate steps, including deletion where appropriate.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will change when we do. Material changes may be communicated through the app or by email where appropriate.
